I am a 21-year-old college senior who is about to embark on a journey to learn something new: self-defense.
In grade school, I was always one of the kids who was picked last in gym class because I was horrible at anything we would play. I spent most of my time either hiding and letting people go ahead of me in line if we played kickball or flinching whenever anything was tossed in my direction and then hope for the best. I am also accident prone, I broke my elbow around two years of age. At four-years-old I broke my wrist, seven-years-old when I broke my leg, and finally I was thirteen-fourteen when I ended up in a finger splint. The fact that I am willingly joining anything along the lines of physical activity is sort of shocking even to myself.
I am determined to learn everything I can from these lessons and hopefully inspire you to try something that you have always wanted to do but have never gotten a chance.
Due to my previous experiences, I have never done anything like this before and that honestly makes me nervous. However, I look forward to sharing new knowledge and experiences; even if my experiences are embarrassing, we can tease me together. Despite my apprehensions, I am so excited to move forward and get started!
